Jim Blackwood

Chief Executive Officer

Donald James (Jim) Blackwood, Jr. is the CEO of Tallahatchie General Hospital and Extended Care Facility (“TGH”). Blackwood is also the Managing Member of Sunflower Management, the management team hired by TGH to improve the financial and operational performance of the facility.

Blackwood and his team consistently demonstrate best-in-class revenue cycle performance, post quality and patient satisfaction scores over and above the state and national averages, and are making significant capital improvements to the facility, including the construction of a new 20,000 square foot wellness facility.

Blackwood and his organization encourage innovation and efficiency through teamwork, technology, and accountability. He has led teams in performance improvement projects at other rural hospitals in the state. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Healthcare Providers Insurance Company, Board of Directors of Delta Trauma Care Region, Inc., the Mississippi Hospital Association Legislative Committee, and the Mississippi Hospital Association Delta Council. Prior to assuming his role as CEO of TGH, Blackwood practiced law for 14 years. Blackwood has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi.
